Highlanders Win at Brewton Parker

Gordon traveled to Mt. Vernon, GA to take on the Barons of Brewton Parker and wasted little time taking care of business. In the second minute, Manuel Chavez sent Emanuel Forbes to goal with a ball behind the Barons’ defense. Forbes collected the ball and calmly finished to give the Highlanders the early lead. In similar fashion to the first goal, Rhet McNeal found himself breaking in on the Barons’ goal on a pass from Camilo Caballero. McNeal hit a low blast just inside the post to give the Highlanders a two-goal lead. GC created numerous chances but the game didn’t produce another goal until fifteen minutes into the second half. However, it would be Brewton Parker cutting into Gordon’s lead. The Barons took advantage of sloppy play in the back that left goalkeeper Caden Jarvis helpless. Gordon would respond with three quick goals to put the game away. Frankie Salgado would score in the 66th minute from an Elvis Opoku assist while Forbes scored his second goal of the match from McNeal’s clever ball in the 70th minute. The final tally would come from Rashid Asante who scored his first collegiate goal with fifteen left off Opoku’s second assist of the day.
