Members of the Gordon Student African-American Brotherhood recently held a membership drive and hosted guest speaker Jerome Cofield, president and CEO of the Make a Child Smile Foundation.

Cofield urged those present to be positive role models for other African-American males and to realize that doing so may not always be easy. He also spoke of growing up in a single-parent home and how that impacted many of his life choices.

SAAB works to create a positive peer community based on a spirit of caring. SAAB operates through student run chapters on college and high school campuses throughout the nation.

Members are expected to excel academically, socially, culturally, spiritually and in service to the community.

SAAB emphasizes participants' understanding of their responsibilities as mentors, role models, husbands, future fathers and productive citizens. Members are nominated to join the organization.

Members include Chad Walker, Chris Faulk, Dubem Anchebe, Benjamin Patterson, Donald Walker, Fredrick Bailey, Juantez Hartsfield, Andrian Hawkins, Joshua Collington,  Antonio Scott, George Worrell, Justin Willis, Omolayo Jemiseye and Christopher Jones.
