Calculating Your Final Grade

Instructions

(1) The basic idea of a spreadsheet

·          A spreadsheet enables you to enter numbers in cells and obtain calculations by function commands which tell the spreadsheet to do things like add, subtract, multiply, divide and average.

·          The beauty of a spreadsheet is that all you have to do is enter the numbers, and voila, the results appear immediately.

·          In this case I have given you the spreadsheet with all the required commands already entered.  As long as you enter the numbers in the proper places, you get the results promised.

(2) What Your Grade Sheet does.

·          In place of the hypothetical numbers already entered put the grades you receive for the exams.

·          The spreadsheet will give you the total points earned.  Notice the points required for each final grade.  Your total will fall in one of these ranges.  That is your final grade.

·          Your computer probably already has Microsoft Office Excel installed.  If so, when you click on the link for Your History Grade, the spreadsheet will open in Excel.  If you don’t have Excel, you can use a computer in the College Computer Lab which will have Excel.  If you have any questions, ask me.

·                    Link to Your History Grade.  Save it to your computer for your use.
