The amount awarded for the Fed Sup Oppt Grnt (Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant) is based on a student's current enrollment status. Full-time enrollment is not required to receive an FSEOG award.

Federal Work Study is awarded as financial aid. However, this is money that the student must earn by accepting employment if offered by Gordon College. These funds are not applied to the student's account at the beginning of the appropriate semester. The award represents the maximum the student may expect to earn during the period of the award with the hourly rate of pay being at least the current federal minimum wage. Actual hours worked are conditional to class schedule, supervisory approval and available federal funds. Wages are paid biweekly.

The amount awarded for the Subs Stafford Loan (Subsidized Stafford Loan) is based on enrollment of 6 or more semester hours. Should the student drop below 6 hours enrollment during the loan period, the lender is notified and all remaining loan funds are canceled.

The amount awarded for the Unsubs Stafford Loan (Unsubsidized Stafford Loan) is based on enrollment of 6 or more semester hours. Should the student drop below 6 hours enrollment during the loan period, the lender is notified and all remaining loan funds are canceled.

For first-time student loan recipients of Federal Stafford Loans, the school cannot release the loan funds until 30 days after the date the student begins his/her program of study. The student should make arrangements to cover any unpaid charges due before the initial loan disbursement.

The amount awarded for the HOPE Scholarship is also based on enrollment of 12 or more semester hours. If you enroll for less than 12 semester hours, HOPE will pay the tuition and fees that are associated with the number of hours for which you are enrolled. If you are enrolled for 6 or more semester hours, HOPE will pay $150.00 toward the purchase of books. If you are enrolled for 5 or fewer semester hours, HOPE will pay $75.00 toward the purchase of books. Awards for entering freshmen will not be disbursed until the student's final GPA is furnished to the HOPE Scholarship Program. For returning students, the award is based on the student's current GPA. Should a high school student fail to graduate with the required GPA, the student is NOT eligible for the HOPE payment. Likewise, should a returning student fail to maintain the required GPA at a checkpoint, the student is NOT eligible for the HOPE payment. Please refer the the HOPE Scholarship section for information on applicable checkpoints.

The HOPE GED voucher is awarded to eligible students as a one-time $500 award. This voucher must be used in the first semester of enrolment. Payment of Awards

It is the policy of Gordon College to post financial aid funds near the beginning of each term. Students with financial aid funds who pre-register for the term have their classes held until the financial aid payment date. Students must finalize their schedules with the Business Office according to the instructions provided them in order to receive aid and pay for classes.

If the total of the aid exceeds the student's institutional charges, the Business Office will pay the balance on the date designated. If the total aid is less than institutional charges, the student should be prepared to pay the balance when due.

To receive financial aid payments, a student must be enrolled and maintaining satisfactory progress according to the standards of the college, must not owe a refund on any grant, or be in default on any loan, or borrowed in excess of the loan limits under the Title IV programs at any institution.

ELIGIBILITY FOR AID IS LIMITED TO COURSE WORK REQUIRED FOR THE DEGREE PROGRAM. STUDENTS WHO ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE NON-CREDIT REMEDIAL COURSES WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR ASSISTANCE FOR A TOTAL OF 30 SEMESTER HOURS OF SUCH REQUIRED COURSES.

THE MAXIMUM CREDIT HOURS A STUDENT MAY ATTEMPT AT GORDON COLLEGE AND REMAIN ELIGIBLE FOR FINANCIAL AID IS 150% OF THE NUMBER OF CREDIT HOURS REQUIRED FOR THE DEGREE.
